Budget Hearing

The Proposed Budget for Fiscal Year 2024 – 2025 for the Town of Halifax has been presented to the Halifax Town Board of Commissioners and is available at Town Hall on King Street for public inspection.  A public hearing will be held by the Commissioners at a Special Meeting scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Monday June 24, 2023,at Town Hall. Citizens are invited to make written or oral comments.

The proposed budget sets the tax rate of sixty-two (62) cents per one hundred dollars ($100.00) valuation, which is four (4) cents less than the previous fiscal year.  The revenue neutral rate based on the 2023 Revaluation by Halifax County was fifty-seven (57) cents per $100 valuation.  The $10.00 monthly Yard Waste fee has been eliminated for the 24-25 budget year. All other fees and water and sewer rates remain at the current rate.
